on further consideration, I've realized that the docs for this stuff,
at least as of Tiger, suggest that this is all totally useless as soon
as there is a single meter change in a session. providing musical time
position counted only in beats cannot tell a plugin where you on the
timeline unless the plugin has access to the tempo map. so is anyone
actually using any of this stuff to do more than just determine
current tempo (e.g. PSP tempo synced delay plugins?)
