as a host author, i'd just note that dealing with carbon UIs is pretty
awful, and i'd be hugely happier if it just went away. there is very
little good documentation on how to do this right, its quite easy to
inadvertently create an amazing visual effects (slicing another window
between the plugin UI and the title bar), and event handling is
complex and intractable. of course, my host is cocoa based :)
