It might help if you included at least some relevant portion of the original
question in your reply, so we don't have to go hunting for it. Just a
thought...

If your mail client didn't associate the two messages, it is not functioning correctly.


My mail client functions fine, but why should I have to open a different email to see what the heck you're talking about?


Look at pretty much every other email from any of these lists (or on a newsgroup, for that matter). Standard practice is to quote what you're referring to.
