audio out device detection

  • Subject: audio out device detection

My Macbook is afflicted with the issue described here

http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1148894&tstart=180

Unless someone has a better idea, I was wondering what the feasibility
of replacing the driver that controls what mode the output jack is in
(internal speakers, optical out, or line out)

I would be game just to simply have a panel with radio buttons so I
could use my fricken internal speakers again!

Any thoughts?
