Cannot see audio device

I've made an audio device with which I can activate/deactive the audio engines via a user client object. No problem, I can see
the audio device popup in "Audio MIDI Setup". BUT, subsequently when enumerating the available devices via AudioHardwareGetProperty(kAudioHardwarePropertyDevices,...) my newly added device (engine) is not enumerated.

Any ideas why ?
