Strange silence problem

  • Subject: Strange silence problem

Hi all,

I have an application which streams audio, and where I can change the output device/sample rate etc. Sometimes when I change the format, i.e.
samplerate/channels/resolution, audio stops cold (i.e. silent). The IOProc is still called and I can see in the audio buffer that it is
not silent. When I do these format changes I:
1. Stop the audio device (but do not remove the audio IOProc)
2. Change the device physical format
3. Start the audio device again.

I've also tried to remove the IOProc in between stopping and starting and it gets better, but I can still occasionally experience the problem.

The machine is a Core i5 MBP, and 10.6.3

Any ideas ?
/Rob
