Multi-channel audio

  • Subject: Multi-channel audio

I'm writing an audio application on Mac using AudioQueueServices API
that supports multi-channel linear PCM audio.
However on connecting mini-optical out to AV receiver the receiver
will only play 2 channels, left and right.

If I play a DVD on Mac, 5.1 surround sound works fine.
I suspect mini-optical out only supports digital (S/PDIF) audio and
not multi-channel (> 2) raw PCM. Is this correct?

If so, how to get multi-channel LPCM audio working with optical out
using AudioQueueServices API?

Thanks,
Bankim.
