normalize AVAudioRecorder iPhone

Hi, I'm recording audio on the iPhone with AVAudioRecorder, but it's really quiet, I'm presuming the best way to rectify this is to normalize the recorded audio? Or is there another way that I have missed that elevates the sound level of recorded audio? If normalize, how would I achieve this, run an AU?

Thanks. _______________________________________________
