I feel better I am not the only one with the issue, :) .
Maybe it is Snow Leopard related, please let me know if anyone finds the fix. I will keep trying.

AudioUnit with Carbon View project into /Library...
And then, like magic, it was fixed .. wierd, and disconcerting.
Especially since Ardour couldn't see it either (Ardour uses OS
component enumeration to discover plugins, which I suspect auval does
too).
