Hi Jeff,

thanks for your fast reply: you pointed me in the right direction indeed; at first I thought AudioQueue services were aimed at simplifying recording and playback from file only, but following your advice I started having a closer look at them and they look Ok for sound synthesis as well. I'll surely go for that option.
