I actually see this behavior as far back as Xcode 2.5 on Tiger 10.4.11
When my code hits certain errors, the debugger window pops up after a
slight delay.
I believe that you can get around this by building the Release
Configuration instead of the Debug Configuration (or whatever they're
named in your project).

I just noticed a change in behaviour with the latest Xcode 3.2.3 on
10.6.4. Apparently there is no distinction between "Run" and "Debug"
anymore, the Debugger always seems to be active.
Unfortunately this interferes with our copy protection so I can't run
our application from within Xcode except if I launch it manually by
double clicking (which is tedious).
Is there any way (Xcode prefs via "defaults write" or similar) to
revert back to the old behaviour?
