MusicPlayer confusions

I'm working on a mutitrack MIDI sequencer-type app. I need to be able to play from different ports and channels, but I'm not clear on where to set the port/endpoint. I can get basic playback working when setting the dest endpoint in MusicSequence, but I get nothing when I try to set it on the MusicTrack. Can anyone let me know what the common approach is to multi-port sequencing?
