How many devices are supported in aggregate device ?

Hello,

I'm not sure if it's the correct list to post this question but I suppose that by knowing the inner code of the coreaudio API, you'll be able to answer my question.

For an art installation prototype, I've succesfully and (very easily) managed to aggregate 4 cheap usb soundcards to the built-in one to create a 10 output device.

Now I want to expand my prototype and before going further I wonder if there's a limit in the number of devices the coreaudio API can deal with ? can aggregate ?
Also, is there a limit in the number of usb device I can connect to a single port ? (let's suppose they're connected through several self-powered usb hubs).

Thanks

Léo
