That's what's confusing to me. In my child class, the graph property is defined as:
AUGraph graph;
In the parent class I have:
AUGraph pGraph;
@property (readonly) AUgraph pGraph;
and
@synthesize pGraph;
Then later in the parent Class implementation I have:
result = NewAUGraph(&pGraph);
and in the child class I try to do:
graph = [parentController pGraph];
Which is when I get that error mentioned previously. As you can see, I'm defining the property as an AUGraph, not an objective-c object.

AU graphs are not Objective-C objects, so you have apparently
misdeclared your property.
