Migrating 10.4 AudioUnit project?

I have only recently upgraded to 10.6 from 10.4. The first error I got
moving my projects was that GCC 4.2 is not compatible with the 10.4
SDK. I switched to GCC 4.0 on my project. If I still want to target
10.4, are there any drawbacks to not using the newer GCC?
