Should I be concerned that something is amiss with my rendering logic, or can such a discrepancy be expected under certain circumstances?
The simulator can be picky about sample rate and buffer size. For
example, 32k sample rate with a 256-sample buffer size is fine on an
iPad, but pops in the simulator on my MBP (and doesn't seem to have
anything to do with not being able to generate samples fast enough).
44k sample rate with 512-sample buffer size in the simulator works
great for me.
