AudioDeviceStop and Finder's preview

  • Subject: AudioDeviceStop and Finder's preview

Hi,

Although our application doesn't call AudioDeviceStop, the device stops occasionally after we display an Open dialog. We found that it happens only when the Finder's preview is used and the device is selected in both the application I/O and the OS System Preferences. Any ideas ?

To check the status of the device I used HALLab and monitored the Running Somewhere Status. Initially we call AudioDeviceStart, the status changes to Yes. When the Finder's preview is used, I tracked a few AudioDevice Start/Stop calls coming from the OS, where the last one would cause the Running Somewhere Status to change to No. I tried to listen to kAudioDevicePropertyDeviceIsRunningSomewhere and then re-start the device, but that caused instability and led to a crash.

Thanks,
