I just had to switch away from QTKit to Core Audio for recording audio because I need the AudioTimeStamps. I also use play-through via QTKit's QTCaptureAudioPreviewOutput and thought I was going to have to switch to something based on CAPlayThrough but it occurred to me I could probably still use QTCaptureAudioPreviewOutput, and it turns out you can. So if you want to avoid all of this buggy ring buffer and low-level Core Audio nonsense, you can just use QTKit to connect up the play-through part of the equation. Anyone know of a reason that won't work for them?
