A complete delete / install worked. Thankfully, I had kept the 4.44GB disc image needed!

Dave.

Yeah, they're both completely empty. I'm going to try and delete the developer folder, then re-install the whole lot, as I'm sure I've read somewhere that it sorted things out on occasion. It doesn't appear to be a hardware problem as the preference plist shows it uses the 'Built-in' output for audio.

Did you remove all plug ins from *both*
~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components and
/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components?

2011/7/8 Dave Hoskins <email@hidden>:
Hello, I have a problem with AU Lab. As soon as it loads it appears to crash
somewhere. It scans through the plug-ins and sits on 'Looking for Music
Devices' for a short while (I have a new machine, so I don't know how long
it's supposed to wait) then the menu is mostly grayed out. The 'About' menu
does not work, and the preferences are grayed out, and the previous files
are not available to load.

Some info:-

Snow Leopard 10.6.8
XCode 3.2.6
It's AU Lab 2.2 according to 'Get Info'
Has the same problem even when ALL the plug-ins are removed from the
component directory.
I've tried plugging back in my USB 'Mbox 2' device in case it was crashing
trying to find it - no luck.
Services menu says 'Building...'
I can't quit from the menu.

Is there a way of resetting it, or has anyone seen this issue before? I can't find an answer searching the messages here.

.> Thanks,
Dave.
