Have you found a solution to this?
I am experiencing the same issue after setting the audio device for
digital bitstream (getting hog on the device and disabling the mixer)
and reverting back to using a HAL AU...
I can never switch back and kAudioOutputUnitProperty_CurrentDevice errors out.
