Developing an AU effect plug-in, and when I run the auval tool on it it passes but I get this warning message (among others with different numbers for InputChan and OutputChan):

WARNING: Can Initialize Unit to un-supported num channels:InputChan:1, OutputChan:2

What is the method for ensuring that it cannot initialize with unsupported channel configurations? Also, what is the method AUs use to tell the host which input/output channel configurations they support? Can't seem to find it.
