Udo, here is what I did:

1. Open XCode 3.1.4 project with XCode 3.2.6
2. Select AUPublic in the sources list, click on inspector icon, locate this folder in /Developer/Extras
3. Now in the inspector target tab, check the mark for your AU component
4. Now in the main XCode window you must uncheck the build mark on the file AUResources.r
5. For PublicUtility in the sources list, click on inspector icon, locate this folder in /Developer/Extras
6. Now in the inspector target tab, check the mark for your AU component

This did it for me, relocate the folders, checkmark them for both targets and then un-checkmark AUResources.r.
