AUSampler documentation dearth?

Is there documentation for the new AUSampler interface?  The LoadPresetDemo is a start, but what I'm really after is how to design a really complex instrument, and I'm not even sure if it's possible.  The "Music in iOS and Lion" video describes some details with hints of "lots more you can do."  But I don't know where to go for the "more."

The kinds of things I'm looking for include:

* alternate start points for notes
* crossfading between layers
* disable velocity control of volume
