How to set stream / device type as displayed in System Preferences.app?

Hello,

I am a bit stumped on how I can get the device or stream type of a HAL Plugin-Device displayed in System Preferences as marked here:
http://www.maven.de/pics/syspref_device.png
My device presents 2 streams, one input and one output stream.

I have tried returning strings from kAudioObjectPropertyName, kAudioObjectPropertyElementName or setting various transportType flags, but none result in the empty area being filled with any information.
I also could not find any Info.plist keys that could be related to this.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
	Daniel.
