Please ignore previous… found my problem.
You have to keep a sense of humor… I'm fighting this problem for the past 4 hrs and finally give in and send an email to the group.
After hitting the send button, my problem reveals itself…. I specified Type Effect rather than FormatConverter for my AUTimePitch subType. Apple let me make this mistake and actually set a parameter with no notice.
The coreAudio gods just laugh.
