Resetting levels after switching away from kAudioUnitSubType_VoiceProcessingIO

I think I remember seeing someone having this issue on the list at some point, but can't seem to find a reference to it.

If I dispose of my Audio Graph and units after switching from 

kAudioUnitSubType_VoiceProcessingIO to kAudioUnitSubType_RemoteIO, some of the voice processing features (echo surpression for example) are turned off, but the recording level (gain) still stays very low, where it was when the VPIO was on.  Is there any way to reliably reset the levels?
