Hello,
I am trying to use Core Audio to play some game sounds. I have it working ok -- I have an AUGraph set up, with a mixer and several input nodes. I use render callbacks to render synth sound samples.
Basically it is a spaceship shoot and explode situation. I tap a button, the shoot sound plays, and then the explode sound plays on a hit.
At first it seems fine, but I notice that when two sounds overlap, the first one drastically decreases in volume. So if the explode sound happens in the middle of the shoot sound, the shoot sound volume will drop. I am thinking maybe that is just the audio system adjusting for the overall sound topping out or something?
What's worse though, is that if I rapidly tap the button, causing many of these sounds to overlap (I have about 5 channels reserved so that if two shoot sounds are playing at once, they go to multiple channels), then the volume problem becomes permanent. After that, even just tapping the shoot button once, with no other sounds playing, the volume remains very low.
Any idea what I could be doing wrong, or how to deal with the problem?
Thanks
Bob
