Getting Audio Midi Setup changes to stick on 10.7

  • Subject: Getting Audio Midi Setup changes to stick on 10.7

I have a device driver that offers 3 channel count settings (say 4, 8, 16).

Under 10.6.8:
Set channel count in Audio Midi Setup. Reboot. New setting is preserved.

Under 10.7.4:
Set channel count in Audio Midi Setup. Reboot. Returns to some default setting.

The default setting returned to seems to be in /Library/Preferences/Audio/com.apple.DeviceSettings.plist ("channels per frame" field). Based on the timestamp, this seems to be updated (only) during the reboot cycle, either on the way down or up.

I tried manually editing the values, and they were overwritten by the next boot cycle.

Any thoughts? I'd really prefer the 10.6.8 behaviour.
