ITunes Audio Effect

Since a few months, i was looking for how to add audio effect in itunes (or other application) with a bypass.
I know it's possible cause some hardware plugins (SRS iWow) or application (Audio Hijack pro) are doing this very well.

Lately, I've made a virtual audio device based on the Sample Hardware Plugin. This plugin display a new device in the audio device list.
When this virtual audio device is set as the main audio output, buffer are processed with effect and sended to a physical output.

But I don't want to have a new device in my audio device list.
My last idea was to hide my physical device in the list (e.g. an USB Audio Device or the Built-in Output) and "replace" it with a virtual audio device (with same specifications and name) who send buffers to the hided physical one.
But i think it's not right. (Or too complicated).

I saw that my Hardware plugin (set as virtual device) is instantiate by each application. But audio is processed only if my plugin is set as the main output.
Maybe it's possible to get the audio buffer with the plugin without changing the main output.
Or maybe it's possible to set the audio output of each application.

I hope you will understand my problem.
Any tips will be great!

Thanks for all.
