Hello,
I need to develop an audio driver which reads audio from shared memory that my application writes to,
you could just use JACK or SoundFlower (both of which are open source). if you search the archives of this list you will find an explanation of the different options available to you and comments on them. Note that JACK itself (the server) is GPL'ed, but clients need not be. both will support normal CoreAudio clients, JACK will also support clients that use its own API (which is vastly simpler than CoreAudio).
ps. if you are signed up for the digest version of a mailing list and you reply to start a new topic, it is nice to delete the (long) message digest that is included in the reply by default. not necessary, but nice.
