Subject: best way to load data from an mp3 starting n samples from the beginning

Hello list. I understand that ExtAudioFileRead always starts reading from the beginning of a file. I'd like to load samples from a file starting at an arbitrary point in the middle. I can simply read through the file and throw away all the data before sample n, of course, but I wonder if there might be a more efficient way to do this.
thanks,
-Morgan
