AU plugins on 10.7.5. I've got users having problems, but it seems like everybody has.
To what extent should I be panicking? I would think that since I'm largely based off straight Apple AU template code with few variations, no GUI layer at all, and no installer, if anyone would make it through this situation unscathed it would be me. If my stuff fails, the example 'Gain' plugin would fail too.
I have to maintain backwards compatibility back to 10.4 or earlier and ship PPC code. One of my most notable users, who is currently working with the single most notable producer in the world, is using Audio Units on Reaper on a PPC machine. That's a pretty high profile use of Audio Units... any solution to maintaining compatibility with Apple host software going forward has to also play nice with my userbase...
I am shipping 64 bit/32 bit/PPC-32-bit fat binary for my entire product line, so I'm capable of revising absolutely everything if I must. I'm unsure what I would even do about this one, though.
What do I tell my users about the AU validation problems, beyond 'don't update unless the update's proven to not break extant dependent software'?
