I wouldn't call this a hack, generally recorded automation in Logic
works such that a touch event happens for the mouse down in the
control that you click on in the plugin UI, and then the released
event happens when you let go of the mouse. For example if you record
automation for one of Logic's macro controls you get recorded
automation for the macro control itself not the controls that are
controlled by the macro control.
