Expected permissions for /Library/Audio/Presets/*

Hi Folks,

We preinstall factory presets in /Library/Audio/Presets/* so that they are available for all users. It *seems* like the expected permissions for these folders and files is 755 (rwxr-xr-x) and that they are owned by root/admin.

This is fine for some hosts (e.g. Logic) which aggregate the presets from both the System and the User domains, but save into the User domain (~/Library).

Other major hosts do not do this (for example Digital Performer), and as a result, when the user goes to save a new preset, they get a permission error, which is not a good experience.

So the question is, is that simply a bug in the host, or is it a bug in my installer and should the permissions be less restrictive (e.g. allowing all users to save in the shared location)?

Best regards,

B.J. Buchalter
