AGC and AU RemoteIO

  • Subject: AGC and AU RemoteIO

I am trying to capture the purest PCM input from the iOS hardware, unadulterated by any OS processing, dual mic cancellation, or AGC or anything else. I have looked in the docs but I can't find a definitive answer.

My question is this: Does the RemoteIO AU do any processing of the input? (aside from format conversion, if needed)

If not, that is what I want.

If so, is there any property that I can set to disable ALL input processing?

I see property constants like:
kAudioUnitProperty_BypassEffect
kAudioUnitProperty_RenderQuality

But I am not sure if these have any effect on the IO unit.

Also, I see the VoiceIO Unit. Which allows explicit control of processing and AGC. If these properties are set to disable, is the VoiceIO unit equivalent to the RemoteIO unit?

On the other sied of things, Does AudioQueue use any input processing like AGC, etc? Can processing be disabled in AQ?

Thanks everyone!

Doug
