Jeremy,
I just got this book from Apress that is really good for Driver
code:
http://www.apress.com/9781430235361-4892
OSX and IOS Kernel Programming by
Authors Henry Halvorsen and Doug Clarke.
There is a basic core audio driver included and you can
download the source code.
As for your hardware issues, believe me I have 18 MACS and do
development on both camps and I really would not buy anything but
Apple, especially for my Windows development. I have had really good
luck and have developed a TON of USB Audio devices and not ounce I
have killed a port. Even when board companies send me shorted VBUS
to ground boards when I have them electrically tested no problems.
Cannot say the same thing for the PC/Linux machines I have in
productions they die too frequently to ask.
Thanks
Gordon
