Hello there,
I want to develop a multi-channel loop-station software. In short, it
should use 2-3 input channels, distribute them on multiple loop-slots,
and either record or playback the loops, the whole thing remote
controlled by MIDI.
I'm new to CoreAudio (former VST developer), and I'm a bit stuck with
the question on how to design the architecture. What's the best way to
do this:
1. Put everything into one big audio unit
2. Write one audio unit per loop-slot and use a mixer
3. Write a 'host' application and use audio units only for FX
I tried to look at the CocoaAUHost example mentioned in the Audio Unit
Programming Guide, but I can't find it anywhere. It's not in the
XCode-included framework, not in the CoreAudio Utitilies Code, and not
in the Audio-Tools DMG. Has it been removed during the restructuring of
XCode frameworks?
Thanks for any help,
Boris
