third party interfaces on iOS

  • Subject: third party interfaces on iOS

Hi all,
Someone just wrote me asking about the apogee duet 2x4, which can act as an audio interface for the iPad. I don't have access to one, but my guess (and hope) is that a third party device like this should "just work" with any coreaudio app. Is that correct? Shouldn't the OS be taking care of that? If not, what are the steps one would need to take to ensure compatibility?
Thanks,
Ben
