There's a (relatively) straightforward explanation of pink noise along with implementation examples at  http://www.firstpr.com.au/dsp/pink-noise/

As for API, afaik there's no function that will just generate pink noise.  Your best bet is to use remoteIO and generate the samples directly.

I started looking at algorithms to generate pink noise and they all seem extremely complex. 

There also doesn’t seem to a consensus on what makes a good pink noise generator.
