Recommendations for AEC on Mac OS X

Hi all,

I'm the developer of Phone Amego which provides Mac-to-Phone integration. With the introduction of Mac OS 10.8 and iOS6, Bluetooth audio on Mac OS X appears to be working much better so I'm interested in adding acoustic echo cancellation.

Is there any recommended way to do this on Mac OS X?

As far as I know, VPIO is iOS only. The echo cancellation used in iChat/Messages is not exposed to 3rd party developers.

There is an open source Speex framework, but I haven't found any plug-in audio units. Are Mac OS X developers really expected to re-invent this? Any pointers or suggestions would be much appreciated.

- Peter
