Hi Dominic:

For what it's worth I just encountered exactly the same behavior today with kAudioObjectPropertyControlList.

Empty list of controls.  I appear to have the right control count. 

Further examination by simultaneously debugging in the driver seems to indicate that the call may not even be getting to the plug-in.

Not sure why that would be, but I'm just opening up this can of worms.

Thanks for sharing this or I might have been digging for another couple days.
