Hey all,

I'm working in iOS and using the vpio unit to record speech, as well

as playback unrelated stereo audio data (sound effects).

With the vpio unit, my stereo sound effects seem to be crashed down to

mono. If I switch to the remoteIO unit -- no other code changes -- the

sounds play correctly in full stereo.

This happens if I'm using the device speakers or headphones (i.e. audio

output route doesn't seem to matter, although I thought I'd read

something to the effect of echo cancellation being completely disabled

with a headphone routing?). I've tried disabling AGC but it doesn't

make a difference.

1. Is this expected behavior with the vpio unit (stereo audio played

back as summed mono)?

2. If #1 is a yes, is there a way to disable this "feature" / or other

ways to hack around it?

3. Am I correct in assuming that using two units, vpio for input and

remoteIO for output, completely negates any echo cancellation benefit

since the input unit won't have access to the output samples?

Thanks in advance for any help -- I've been beating my head against this

for a while now.
