Dave,
I reported that in a radar and Apple basically told me it worked as expected.
What I've noticed though is that they pause your recording and finalize it so if you don't try to resume, the audio should be fine.
Thinking aloud here, I wonder if you could start a new recording and then concatenate them together somehow with an export session or something. I'd have to look into that.
