Adjust the volume of individual airplay devices

As of Mac OS 10.8 apps have the ability to send audio directly to one or more airplay devices through the airplay audio device and its data sources. This works fine. iTunes is also able to control the volume of each individual airplay device independently but I see no way to do that through CoreAudio. I am able to change the volume of audio devices but see no way to get or change the volume of data sources of the airplay device.

Is it possible to do this using CoreAudio?

Thanks,
Patrick
