Audio Converter Services vs AVAssetReader

Hello,

Using AVAssetReader/Output have an app that converts compressed audio (stored in iPhone library) to LPCM samples. I then dump integer samples into array/function for further processing. I notice the conversion speed takes about 1 sec per 1 minute of compressed audio(pretty sure the filetype is .m4a)

Would using Audio Converter Services speed up the conversion?
