User-mode virtual audio device

Hi all,

We have a solution where we have a KEXT virtual audio device which can be controlled by a user client API, i.e. add/remove devices, change device settings etc. however, I'd really like to have this in user-land instead. I've seen some references to user-land devices, but then also references to SimpleAudioDriver.kext... I'm confused ?

I want the audio device to appear when my application starts (registers the device with CoreAudio), and then to be removed when my application ends.

Ideas ?

Regards,
/Robert
