Inter-App Audio node when not always mixable

  • Subject: Inter-App Audio node when not always mixable

Hi,

We have an audio app that is not mixable (AVAudioSessionCategoryOptionMixWithOthers NOT set). We also want to support being an Inter-App Audio node, which requires the app to be mixable according to the WWDC slides.

We have been experimenting with becoming mixable when getting connected to an Inter-App Audio host, but we are seeing a couple of cases where this doesn’t work and for example our graph cannot be started (e.g. when the app is launched by the host).

1. Is it supported at all for a node app to not be *always* mixable?

2. If it is, what is the recommended setup for this scenario? E.g., does the app need to be mixable at launch and then disable the mixable flag when it’s not connected to a host?

Thanks!

Jan
