Hello!!
My name is Janie Clayton-Hasz. This is my first question that I am submitting to this mailing list.
I am working on my first solo Core Audio iOS application. My app will record a piece of audio from the default input on an iPhone and then give the user the ability to do some effects on the playback.
I am including two sliders, one for pitch and one for speed. I would also like to have three filters they can apply to their sample. These will be connected to three buttons on the view controller.
Here is my question:
I would like to enable the user to change the effect during playback, so if I had a distortion unit they could switch it on and off during playback or switch to another effect.
I believe the way I have been going about this works only if the user has the same effect through the whole playback. Can anyone recommend the best way to enable or disable an effect during playback so that it does not interrupt the user experience?
If this was analog you could just mute the channel with the effect and remove it from the signal flow. Is there an equivalent set of settings like in the mixer unit to allow for this? Does sending the audio through a muted audio unit cause latency issues?
Nice to meet all of you and thank you for reading my question.
Janie
