Which api within CoreAudio offers the simplest way to output a short sound with low-latency ?
background:
I have an OSX CoreMIDI based application for which I would like to add a metronome function using CoreAudio. I have previously done this with the old Sound Manager SndPlay and SndDoImmediate functions. These still work, but since Mavericks they perform unpredictably and with high latency.
I’ve checked the CoreAudio docs on developer.apple.com, but it seems that most everything is geared toward iOS.
Any pointers would be appreciated.
