Soundflower-esq app in Mac App Store

Hi all,

Two general questions.

1. Is it possible to have an app which installs a "fake audio device" (such that the user could select it as their default) which would be available to work properly that is installed from the Mac App Store? Are there sandboxing/permissions issues here?

2. Looking at the Soundflower source code, I notice it uses IOKit IOAudioEngine and IOAudioDevice. The code is a bit dated by now; is this still the preferred way to implement a fake audio device? There are some promising looking plugin-types in CoreAudio/HAL that I was looking at.

Thanks

Kevin
